Lecture Series on "War in Ukraine: Impact on People’s Lives"

On 10 December 2024, Universitat Jaume I in Spain hosted the lecture series "War in Ukraine: Impact on People’s Lives," which focused on the effects of the Russia-Ukraine war, particularly on children.

Nadiia Pavlyk presented an insightful analysis of Ukrainian children’s books addressing war and loss, emphasizing key themes of resilience, memory, and unity.

The discussion explored how children’s literature portrays the theme of loss and employs strategies to help young readers understand and cope with this difficult experience. Pavlyk’s presentation also examined how these books reveal the emotional states and behaviors of children who have suffered due to the war. The session concluded with reflections on the broader lessons such works offer for supporting children as they navigate the challenges of an ongoing conflict.

This lecture series highlighted the importance of literature in helping children process trauma and preserve cultural memory, further contributing to the global understanding of the human impact of war.
