Crossing Borders at the IRSCL Congress in Salamanca
From Denmark to Spain: finding new connections in children’s literature research

From 21 to 25 June 2025, Ekaterina Shatalova participated in the 27th Biennial Conference of the International Research Society for Children’s Literature (IRSCL), hosted by the University of Salamanca, Spain. The conference theme "Borders, Migration and Liminality in Children’s Literature" brought together scholars from around the world to explore how children's texts respond to and reflect movement, transition, and identity.
Ekaterina was part of a Danish delegation led by Professor Nina Christensen and joined by PhD students and junior scholars working in the field of children’s literature. The congress offered a valuable opportunity to present ongoing research, engage in international dialogue, and connect with current debates at the intersection of literature and migration, and identity.
