Director of Workpackage 3, Dr. Martin Arvad Nicolaisen, spent the last week following MARPOL waste management procedures at Port of Tema. The week offered great insights into how certain solid garbage types, such as plastic, food, domestic, incinerator ashes, and e-waste, get registered, received, and disposed of inland. The photos show the reception of waste from the visiting vessel 'Captain Sitaras' at berth #13, along with the subsequent truck carrying the garbage from the port to the ultimate disposal at the Kpone landfill North-East of Tema.
