On September 28th, 2023, Annette Skovsted Hansen and Martin Arvad Nicolaisen visited APM Terminals at Aarhus Port together with researcher, Enna Hirata of Kobe University, Japan. On the big ship-to-shore gantry cranes, a new and advanced OCR (Optical Character Recognition) container scanning system is currently being implemented. We got a chance to talk with key APMT employees about this and other innovations toward greater automation in the shipping industry of today and the future.
