A Nordforsk funded research collaboration among Danish, Swedish and Norwegian partners, that aims to develop methods to mitigate off-flavour in recirculating aquaculture systems. The target audience of our site is the aquaculture industry.
The project develops and tests biosafe nanocoatings for anti-biofilm surface application. Nanocoatings applied to fish tanks could reduce the impact of the bacterial nuisiance metabolites Geosmin and MIB in Recirculating Aqua Culture Systems (RAS). Such an improvement of water quality will positively impact taste and odor of fish filets resulting in both economical and environmental benefits.
