About the Research Network

The Dalai Lamas has repeatedly stated he plans to begin his succession process in 2025. The LEAD network unites researchers to discuss his plans and their impact on various communities in a series of events including online seminars, invited lectures, and in-person conferences.

Aims of the research network

The main aims of the research network are to:

  • Connect researchers across disciplinary boundaries 
  • Create an outstanding environment for researchers
  • Reinvigorate the study of leadership and devotion 
  • Develop cross-cutting theoretical and methodological approaches to studying succession
  • Establish a network to advise governments, businesses, religious groups, and the media

The network was funded by the Independent Research Fund Denmark | Humanities in 2023-2026.
