After five years of intensive research and collaboration, the FruitBunch project celebrated its successful conclusion with a final project meeting in Ghana. The initiative, launched to support vegetable farmers in adapting to climate change, brought together partners from Ghana and Denmark to review achievements, share results, and outline future opportunities.
Over its five‑year duration, the project fostered new collaborations and engaged stakeholders across the vegetable value chain. Workshops held throughout the project period helped ensure close dialogue with farmers, advisors, and local institutions, while also guiding research directions to meet practical needs. All in all five PhD students and 26 Master’s students were trained, some of whom took part in research stays in Denmark, gaining hands‑on experience with laboratory methods, field trials, and data analysis.
The final meeting also featured a visit at the Danish Embassy in Ghana, and concluded with a cultural program celebrating the partnership and the shared commitment to improving food production in a changing climate.
In 2023, the five FruitBunch PhD students and their supervisors completed a research stay in Denmark as part of the project’s focus on capacity building. During their stay, they worked on field experiments, conducted laboratory analyses, and advanced their skills in data processing and interpretation alongside other international researchers. But beyond the scientific work, the students also had the chance to experience Denmark’s culture, landscapes, and daily life, and to build new friendships!
