Workshop on breeding for integrated pest management
A workshop on breeding for IPM in sustainable, low-input agriculture systems will be held in Poland in July 2016.
Breeding for crops that are resistant to pests is one tool that can be used in integrated pest management. This practice can reduce the use of pesticides.
A workshop organised jointly by C-IPM and The Plant Breeding and Acclimatization Institute (IHAR) - National Research Institute in Poland, to be held 4-6 July 2016 at IHAR in Radzikow, Poland, addresses this issue.
The organisers have put together a programme that will focus on breeding, combining available techniques and measures to foster IPM, and gaining an overview of what is currently available and which bottlenecks there are in terms of breeding and IPM in general.
