New Publication: Journal of Urban Archaeology 13

Journal of Urban Archaeology, Issue 13, is dedicated to reimagining how we understand urban history through archival and legacy data.

Volume 13 of Journal of Urban Archaeology is featuring a special section titled "Lost Towns and Cities: Rediscovering Urban Sites through Archival and Legacy Data," edited by Rowan S. English and Sarah Croix. This special section stems from a winter 2024 workshop at the Centre for Urban Network Evolutions (UrbNet), organized by Sarah Croix, Rowan English, Rubina Raja and Charlotte Marie Brühe Jensen. The publication brings together case studies that serve as a vital resource for archaeologists and historians interested in the interplay between historical records and modern urban reconstruction by examining forgotten urban landscapes, ranging from the Iron Age town of Silchester in Britain to the medieval resilience of Borgund in Norway.

The open part of this volume is devoted to the ancient city of Palmyra (Tadmor), offering fresh perspectives on its collecting history, epigraphic habits, and water management systems.
