Recent policy initiatives from the European Commission has put European soils in the limelight. Within the frames of the European Green Deal, the EU mission ‘A Soil Deal for Europe’ and the EU soil strategy for 2030 were presented in 2021. These initiatives highlight the importance of sustainable agriculture for healthy soils and calls for greater cooperation between researchers and the agricultural sector.

100 living labs and lighthouses for healthy soils

The main goal of the EU mission ‘A Soil Deal for Europe’ is to establish 100 living labs and lighthouses to lead the transition towards healthy soils by 2030. In this webinar we will explore these concepts both in a European and a Nordic context together with the European Commission and four organizations working with sustainable agriculture by linking research and practice, thus being potential living labs or lighthouses.

Fostering Nordic cooperation

We need to increase our common understanding of current soil policy concepts and foster greater Nordic cooperation to fruitfully contribute to the EU mission for healthy soils by 2030. This webinar offers an opportunity to do so.

The webinar is hosted by SLU, NIBIOLUKE and Aarhus University through the European Joint Programme SOIL (EJP SOIL).
