Open Innovation in Science according to the Novo Nordisk Foundation

Mikkel Skovborg is Senior Vice President for Innovation at the Novo Nordisk Foundation. He was one of the three participants in the panel discussion about Open Innovation in Science (OIS) at ‘Folkemødet’.

“I hope that the Open Innovation in Science approach will be adopted by other funding bodies too.” says Mikkel Skovborg. Although the open collaborations  - such as the 11 funded by ODIN - are completely without patents, the aims is for the collaborations to boost innovation by sharing new basic knowledge that can be used in many different settings. Mikkel hopes that at least two or three products will be ready for clinical trials within the next 10 years as a results from the open collaborations.

The OIS panel discussion was moderated by Maria-Theresa Norn and Mikkel Skovborg discussed the new and open approach for innovation in science with Dean Kristian Pedersen from Aarhus University and Anders Hoff, who is Head of Research and Innovation Policy at Lif - Lægemiddelforeningen.
