Organisation

Operating on a strategic decision-making and an operational level.

The strategic management's role is to align activities undertaken at the EU and national levels, particularly through review of Annual Work Plans. The operational management level is responsible for all day-to-day coordination, technical, scientific and administrative project activities.

The Strategic Committee

The Strategic Committee is composed of the Programme Owners representatives of each participating Member State. The Committee has a guiding role rather than a governing one, advising on the strategy to be followed by EJP SOIL, particularly through its Annual Work Plans, Roadmap, to ensure that the EJP SOIL meets the objectives of alignment among EU countries.

The Board of Programme Managers

The Board of Programme Managers is the ultimate decision-making body of the project. The Board of Programme Managers is responsible for the strategic orientation of the EJP SOIL Programme: overall direction of all activities – research, training and management – and re-orientation whenever necessary, budget revision, incorporation of new contractors, measures towards defaulting partners in close communication with the REA and line with the grant agreement. The Board of Programme Managers is composed of one representative per country.

National Hubs

National Hubs play a crucial role in sharing information at national level and in defining a shared national position toward agricultural soil knowledge development, knowledge sharing and transfer, knowledge organisation and storage and knowledge application. A National Hub can either built on existing national soil stakeholder networks or be set up for the purposes of EJP SOIL. The Advisory Board (Strategic and operational level)

The Advisory Board provides independent advice to the EJP SOIL strategic research roadmap. The members are active at international level and have a broad vision of the challenges facing agriculture, food and environment. The Board members are experts in a diversity of disciplines, creating a board composed of scientific experts and representatives of scientific and stakeholder organisations.

The Advisory Board serves as the key forum for scientific and stakeholder organisations to interact with the EJP SOIL by providing input on both the strategic and operational levels. The Board will support the scientific excellence, societal relevance and impact of the EJP SOIL. The composition ensures that a wide diversity of relevant stakeholders’ perspectives is provided and that these perspectives are considered and integrated in the entire work cycle of the EJP SOIL. Read more about each Advisory Board member

The Executive Committee

The Executive Committee is the decision-implementing body of the project chaired by the Coordinator and consists of Work Package leaders and Deputy Work Package leaders. The Executive Committee is in charge of the operational management of all the activities of the programme. The EJP SOIL project coordinator represents the consortium and is in charge of the day-to-day, technical, scientific and administrative project management.

The EJP SOIL Management Support Team

Daily management work and handling of the project logistics is handled by the Management Support Team. The Management Support Team ensures all the administrative process in order to properly implement the work plan, communicate with the partners, report to the Executive Committee and submit the deliverables.

The Ethics Board

The Ethics Board is composed of five independent specialists in ethics and legal matters relevant for the implementation of EJP SOIL. The board is selected based on expertise in ethics and legal matters, their independence from EJP SOIL beneficiaries and their interest in the scope of the EJP SOIL. Read more about the Ethics Board

The External Calls Board of Funders

The External Calls Board of Funders brings together research funding organisations from Member States represented in the EJP SOIL, and from other countries if interested. The main role of the board is to agree on the EJP SOIL external funding commitment and plan the details of the financial support to external calls, contribute to the identification of the research gaps and indicate priorities to guide the development of topics for the external calls.
