Time           9:00-18:00

Outline

Since 2011 a Danish-German team has conducted archaeological research in Gerasa/Jerash in northern Jordan. The project is now entering the “final publication” stage. In this connection, a broad range of specialists working on the various material groups and themes, which have been covered within the project, are coming to UrbNet in order to exchange insights into the material evidence and research undertaken within the project. Themes that will be discussed range from stratigraphy, Bayesian statistics, metal and glass analyses, find coin patterns, architecture, ceramics, food habits and the impact of natural catastrophes on the urban landscape – just to mention a few.

The workshop will take the shape of short presentations by the specialists followed by discussions of the materials and the themes. Furthermore, there will be smaller group discussions in order to engage with the material and its context in a more focused manner across disciplinary borders.
