The application process consisted of two separate and consecutive steps:
- Pre-proposal: This first step was opened on January 7, 2015 and closed on March 4, 2015.
67 pre-proposals were submitted. In total 63 eligible proposals were evaluated by a panel of international experts and external reviewers using the Step 1 criteria set out on page 15 in the Call Announcement.
- Full proposal: Submission of a full proposal by the applying consortium. 28 proposals were invited to submit a full proposal. The deadline for full proposal submission was Monday September 14, 2015. 27 full proposals were submitted.
- Final selection: The 27 submitted full proposals underwent a final formal check and were subsequently evaluated by a panel of international experts and external reviewers using the Step 2 criteria set out on page 16/17 in the Call Announcement.
- In november 2015, 14 projects were selected to receive funding in the frame of the FACCE SURPLUS ERA-NET.
